Psalms of Joy and Praise (Continued) - Psalms 122, 124, 133, 134, 135, 136, 138

The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me;
     Your love, O Lord, endures forever--
     do not abandon the works of Your hands.

Not only does the Lord have a purpose for me.  He will see it fulfilled.  And who best than the maker of a thing to know its best use?  I wonder what He has in mind?  Should I know since it's my purpose?  I think I'm already living it.  I'm content if it's simply being the father of three wonderful children, the husband of a marvelous wife.  I'm content in this purpose if I'm to stand in support of another, to be there when they need me.  It would be enough.  More than enough.  And if that is my purpose then I know I'm concentrating too much on things that often distract me from this purpose -- work, entertainment, perhaps even writing.

Like a work of art, like a home built from your own plans with your own hands, like a well-planned and nurtured vegetable garden or a finely manicured lawn -- the Lord won't abandon the work of His hands.  I bear His fingerprints and His eye for detail and design.  He made me for a reason and purpose.

Lord knows.
