Nehemiah Rebuilds the Wall (Continued) - Nehemiah 4:1-23, 5:1-19, 6:1-16

God builds a wall of love around us. We find it constricting, think it a prison and try to break free. But if we allow Him to wrap us tightly in His love we will emerge...sporting wings. Sorry if I took that metaphor too far

So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of Elul, in fifty-two days. When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God. Nehemiah 6:15-16

The Lord's work is obvious to everyone so that even the enemies of God are forced to acknowledge Him, His People and His power. And maybe it's our enemies who see God's power more than we do. We tend to think we've done it all on our own. Did the people share the same knowledge and insight as their enemies? Or did they just think that Nehemiah was a good manager?

I hope that when people look at my life they are first surprised and then realize "this work had been done with the help of our God."

Lord knows.
