Isaiah Tells of "Last Days" - Isaiah 24:1-23, 25:1-9, 26:1-21, 27:1, 32:1-8, 35:1-10

Salvation Mountain - A Folk Artwork
On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare
     a feast of rich food for all peoples,
a banquet of aged wine --
     the best of meats and the finest of wines.
On this mountain He will destroy
     the shroud that enfolds all peoples,
the sheet that covers all nations;
     He will swallow up death forever.
The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears
     from all faces;
He will remove the disgrace of His people
     from all the earth.

We climb all our lives.  Stumble on obstacles along the way.  Take the wrong paths.  Misread directions and wander too proud to ask anyone for help.  Get headed down instead of up.  Struggle.  Despair.  Wondering what really lies ahead.  Stopping to rest along the way, unsure how much farther you can go.  Can you make it?  And the climax of life is when we reach the summit of the Lord's mountain.

I  want to be on that mountain and not just because there will be "good aged wine" there.  I've always considered the mountains geological exclamation points.  The Lord's mountain certainly is.

Lord knows.

Reading this passages and others in today's reading I don't know how any of the Jewish sects could have believed their isn't an afterlife.  It seems so obvious here.
