March 11

The Taking of Jericho and Ai - Joshua 6:1-27, 7:1-26, 8:1-35

"Afterward, Joshua read all the words of the law - the blessings and the curses - just as it is written in the Book of the Law.  There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded that Joshua did not read to the whole assembly of Israel, including the woman and children, and the aliens who lived among them." [Josh. 8:34-35]

I have just one question...if we had won against all odds [man's not God's] to triumph over two great powers in battle, would we read the Bible?  Or celebrate our skill, tactics and prowess and party like there was no tomorrow?

This was no brief scripture reading.  Joshua read all of the law, everything Moses had commanded.  It must have taken forever.  Imagine the fidgeting in that congregation.

And the real battle still rages on.  Let's not leave anyone behind on the battlefield.
